Planned Itinerary for Spain and Morocco

We finally got around to setting a tentative itinerary for our trip. Well, I should say "I". Sudha has probably read every guide book twice and sent a 100 emails to me with ideas of places to see and visit. I'm notorious for not planning trips. But I finally relented, and we've come up with a sketch of an itinerary.

Astute readers will notice that there's no mention of Portugal. After further investigation, we decided it was too much effort to suffer a 10-hour train ride each way to Lisbon for only a couple of days there.

Here's a map of our planned itinerary. Click on the link below the map for more details.

It is nice that Spain has a fair bit of high-speed trains (AVE), so the trains rides there won't be too long. I'm more worried about Morocco where we may be subject to the vagaries of their train system...

So, is this too ambitious? Any place we should spend more or less time?

  1. Hi Nitin,

I see on you map that you're going to stay 2 nights in Barcelona. Do you know which dates you are going to be there?

  2. Hey Estelle,

Our current plan calls for us to spend the 15th and 16th and then take the night train on the 17th to Granada. So the middle of next week. We may tweak the overall schedule a little still too. Getting up to France will likely be hard since we have to head down to Morocco as well.

  3. Ah ok, no worries. I just wanted to know to see if I could meet up with you in Barcelona. However, I'm working on the days you will be there. So never mind, it will be for next time.
Enjoy your holiday there. I'll be following you on your blog. I think this blog is a really good idea as you travel a lot.
    xx

  4. Well, if you can manage to escape work at the last minute, do come and visit. I'll be checking email... One thing about vacation is that you quickly lose track of when weekends are! Glad you like the blog. I think it'll be fun for me!

  6. In Barcelona, you can check out Gaudi's works (Sagrada Familia, Park Guell). I haven't seen them in person but they look interesting in pictures/video. Have a safe and fun trip.

  7. Hey Vidyut,

Casablanca didn't look as interesting as Fes and Marrakesh to me. Although Nitin seemed to like it for its French influence. But with the current itinerary, couldn't manage more than a day there.

I was thinking 15 days is a long time... turns out just to enjoy Andalucia thoroughly, you need a couple of weeks. :)

  8. Hey Dinesh,

You can see the post on Barcelona. Sagrada Familia was a work in progress that was kinda pricy. We're going to check out Park Gruell today. Hopefully it'll be more interesting!

  9. @Sudha: Yep, when travelling any number of days feel too little :). I am sure you did your research before deciding to spend only one night in Casablanca...maybe the movie has tainted my imagination too much...
