Fes: One last mad jaunt through the medina

We aimed to leave for Casablanca around lunch time so we had time for a bit of exploring.  The only specific thing we did was to visit the Museum of Wood ($1.50) -- a smallish museum of wooden impelements.  It was decent, though the signs were only in French.  Otherwise, we roamed the medina, getting moderately lost and going around in a few circles.  But no major panic, just a little bit of "disquiet" since we did have a train to catch.  There are these signs that mark out some routes, but you can't always rely on them since they aren't always well-placed.  We weren't too bothered by "false guides" and touts, though some men tried to steer us to the tanneries by claiming the route ahead was closed (even though there were people coming from that direction.) Here's a picture of one of they alleyways, but it doesn't really do it justice.

We made it to a glistening train station with no problem.  Unlike the bus station, the police kept the touts at bay.  We are taking the express train to Casablanca.  Even though, we are only in 2nd class (~$14), the coach is amazing.  See the picture.  Definitely better than Spanish trains and probably U.S. ones too.  It's a smooth ride as well.  People are right when they say travel via the trains.  Our grand taxi and bus (which we learned wasn't even the top-notch, safe and recommended company) was what the masses travel on.  Now we're traveling like Moroccans of means (and tourists) do!
