We drove south today to Semenggih Wildlife Rehabilitation Centre. This is another rehabilitation center for orangutans, similar to what we saw at Sepilok in Sabah. Unfortunately, the fruit season was starting and we only saw two -- a nine-year old male and a eight-year old female -- come in for the free handouts. They were very close though, and I took lots of pictures. Here are a couple from phone, though these don't really do them justice.
It was interesting to see an orangutan get at a coconut. He de-husked it and then smacked it against a tree to get the juices and meat. Hopefully, I managed to take some good pictures of that. I tried video, but it's really hard to get steady, in-focus pictures with my camera.
Now, we're off to visit a longhouse...
